The Col du Coq from the south is a difficult climb but the views more than make up for it. The whole chain of the Belledonne massif are across the Isere valley and the Dent de Crolles rises to over 2,000m as the summit of the Col is approached. The hard work is then done and the second shorter climb to the Col du Porte leaves you with a long descent back to the city.
