Climbing from Grenoble up to the Col de la Croix Perrin, you soon leave the city behind and find yourself climbing on a wooded road, passing through impressive gorges just after the village of Engins. The route takes you to the Balme de Rencurel before the final ascent of the Col de Romeyere. Take time to stop for the waterfall views just before the road splits, and I recommend you take the right option which will miss the tunnel . The Grenoble cycle track starts near the bottom of the climb so its a pleasant run back to the city.
